Fishing Rod Tutorial for American Girl Doll

 Things you will need

• a length of 6 mm dowel 
• sewing machine bobbin
• electrical tape (I used black) 
• 4 or 5 paper clips
• fishing line
• black paint
• hot glue gun

How to Make It


Step 1

 Cut the dowel so it is 37 cm (14 ½ in) long.


Step 2

 

Start tapering one end with a knife so the small end is about 3 mm wide, then cut a little grove about 5 cm    (2 in) from the thick end. Then sand it all smooth. (you can skip this step if you think its to hard).

Step 3
     

 

Get your bobbin and paper clip, bend the paper clip as shown, then thread it through the bobbin and twist.

           

Step 4

Paint the rod and bobbin black. (you might want to paint the bobbin before step 3 I forgot😊)


Step 5

Bend the paper clips into loops as shown.


Step 6

Hot glue the reel (bobbin) in the grove of the rod, then hot glue the loops evenly to the rod.


Step 7

   

      

Tape around the parts you glued. Also, tape the handle.

Step 8

Tie fishing line around the bobbin thread it through the loops.

Step 9

Make a hook and tie to the end of your line.

Great! You're done. Now you and your doll can try catching some fish.
